Horse Trailer Living Quarters Remodel & Restoration

A good horse trailer outlives its living quarters by twenty years. The frame, the axles and the shell are fine — it is the dated cabinetry, the tired upholstery, the soft spot in the floor and the insulation that was never really there in the first place.

We strip living quarters back and rebuild them. Small updates, full remodels, or a proper restoration of a trailer that is worth saving. Almost always for less than replacing the whole rig, and you keep the trailer you already know hauls well.

The three jobs people ask for

An update

The bones are good and you just want it to stop looking like the decade it was built in. Cabinet fronts, counters, upholstery, flooring, fixtures and lighting.

A full remodel

Stripped to the shell and built back to a layout that suits how you actually use it. This is where you fix the things that have annoyed you for years. 2 to 4 weeks.

A restoration

An older trailer worth saving. Water damage traced and repaired, structure made sound, insulated properly, then finished. Usually far cheaper than a comparable new rig. 2 to 5 weeks.

Why we insulate it differently

This is the part most remodels get wrong, and it is the part we do every day on the coating side of the business.

The frame is the problem

Aluminium square tubing conducts heat roughly a thousand times better than the air around it. Stuff insulation between the tubes and the frame itself still carries heat straight through — a shortcut around everything you just installed.

Break the bridge

Foil-faced panel with an air gap, and closed-cell tape over the tubing itself, so the framing is covered rather than left as a heat path into the room.

Both directions

The same build that keeps July heat out keeps warmth in on a cold night at a winter show. Insulation does not care which way the heat is trying to go.

Then the roof

The roof is the hottest surface on the trailer. A remodelled interior under an uncoated roof is a job half done — and we can coat it while it is already with us.

Common questions

Is it worth remodelling instead of buying new?

Usually, if the shell and running gear are sound. You are paying for the interior rather than for a second trailer, and you keep the one you already know tows properly. If yours is not worth it, we will say so — we would rather lose the job than build a nice interior into a trailer that should be retired.

Do you fix water damage?

Yes, and we fix the cause as well as the damage. There is no point rebuilding a floor under a roof that is still letting water in, so a remodel on a leaking trailer includes sealing the roof properly.

Can you change the layout?

Yes. Bunks, dinette, storage, where the tack room stops and the living space starts — a full remodel is the moment to fix all of it.

Where does the work happen?

At our shop. Coating and insulation on a trailer roof are mobile and we come to you, but a remodel needs to be under cover. Tow it in, or we can collect it and arrange transport for a fee.

How much does it cost?

It is priced on the project. An update and a full restoration are different orders of magnitude, so we look at the trailer, agree the scope, and put a real number in writing before anything is torn out.

How long will I be without it?

A living quarters remodel runs 2 to 4 weeks. A full restoration runs 2 to 5 weeks, because what turns up once the walls are off is not always what was expected. We book it around your season where we can — tell us when you need it back.

How does payment work?

A 30% deposit schedules the work and buys the materials. A further 30% is due at 50% completion, and the balance is due when you collect the trailer.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — 12 months on workmanship. That covers a defect in what we built. It does not cover the trailer being a trailer: impacts, wrecks, kicks, lightning strikes and ordinary wear are not workmanship faults. If something we built is wrong, we put it right.

Other things we do

Tell us what you want to build

A build is quoted, not calculated — every one is different. Send us the idea, the trailer you have (or the size you want), and roughly what you want to spend, and we will come back with a real scope and a real number in writing.

Payment: 30% deposit, 30% at the halfway point, balance on pick-up.
